Two men armed with a handgun and a shotgun entered the Hingham jewelers and kidnapped the occupants of the building, holding them in the safe area. They stole one of the employee's cars, subsequently recovered in Stoughton.

The Hingham police have received a commitment from the victim’s insurance company, Jewelers’ Mutual Insurance, funding a $50,000 reward for information provided that directly or indirectly leads to the recovery of the stolen merchandise and potentially the apprehension of those individuals involved.
